MSWHL Meeting Notes- October 18, 2005

Meeting called to Order at 7:06 PM by Joanne Lukasik

TREASURERS REPORT:

Deb is settling in as our treasurer, reported a balance of $7, 485.39. She indicated that the Beginners Clinics have generated revenues in the amount of $1,200. The league is still waiting on the grant money promised by MAHA, but per Carrie, we have been reassured that we have not been forgotten and it is on its way.

OLD BUSINESS:

Outstanding Rosters: The following teams have not submitted their official rosters for the 2005/2006 Season-
Advanced I- Harrow, Chiefs
Intermediate I- Steel Magnolias
Intermediate II- Black Ice, Devils, Iron Maidens
Rec I- Ice Pack, Storm, Nighthawks
Rec II- Ann Arbor Flames, Ann Arbor Cyclones

The website has now been updated to automatically redirect from the old site to its new location at www.mwshl.com .

The Board reviewed a petition by the Steel Magnolias requesting that Elissa Brode be allowed to drop from Advanced A to Intermediate I. This request was approved.

Ruicci Cup: The league is still looking for a volunteer host team for this seasons Ruicci Cup. The ice has been contracted at Eddie Edgar already and Michelle Monson has graciously arranged for Joe Kocur to be our celebrity guest. Cmon girls- what team wouldnt want to hang out with Kocur for a Sunday? In addition to our regular tournament format, there will be an exhibition game between the women of the Beginners Clinic and an All-Star Team from the Rec II Division.

Developmental Clinic: The second clinic was held on Sunday, October 16 at Dearborn Ice Skating Center. We had 12 women in attendance and were surprised by a visit from the MAHA President, Mickey Jesue, and a reporter from Michigan Hockey. All are welcome, the next clinics are scheduled for November 11 and November 12, check the league website for the latest information.

Statisticians: All stats must be submitted to Ann Dojiba by the 30th of each month. You may forward them as often as you wish, but at a minimum the games for that month must be provided by the 30th. NO EXCEPTIONS

Goalie Sub List: Deb and Renee are compiling a list of players/goalies willing to act as substitutes pursuant to our new policy. The only stipulation is that these players must already be members of a MWSHL team, and must play at or above their current level. This includes players who want to sub as goalies- ex. if you are an Intermediate I player, you must sub as a goalie at II or above. THE SUBSTITUTE POLICY APPLIES TO GOALIES ONLY. Players are not allowed under any circumstances to play for another MWSHL team (the only exception would be for tournament play Non- Ruicci Cup).

MAHA Report: Teams who intend to compete in State or National Contests must submit their letter of intent to Patty Madden by November 15, 2005. States will be held in Lansing this year. There has been some discussion at the National level of USA Hockey with regards to adding an additional division, Over 30. Obviously this poses some questions with regards to eligibility and team structure, but this is merely in the discussion phase at this time. Carrie will keep us posted.

There will be a Womens Senior A/B Tournament at Great Lakes Sports Center February 16-18, 2006. GLSC is willing to add another division, but it would require some effort on the local teams to help recruit. Contact Al at Fraser for more information.

NEW BUSINESS:

The Frozen Assets requested a waiver for a player, currently on maternity leave to be allowed to play in the Ruicci Cup. She is due to return the first of the year, but will not have the requisite 10 game minimum. This request was approved.

Team Managers/ Statisticians: Make sure names are being crossed off the pre-printed labels on rosters for teams using stickers. If no names are crossed off, this should be a warning to you to check with the teams to make sure all players were at that game. Only eligible players for each contest should be listed on the scoresheet. This could cause eligibility problems for Ruicci Cup, States and Nationals.

A question was raised as to the eligibility of a player requesting release from one team to play on another. A player who has been released from one team to another is not eligible to play for her new team for Seventy Two (72) Hours from the time the registrar signs the release.

Meeting Ended on Motion brought by Terry Mathews, seconded by Amy Martin at 7:59 PM

Minutes Submitted by Amy Martin, Co-Vice President, Co- Ruicci Cup Coordinator in Secretary Renee Dobrzelewskis absence.
