Metro Skaters Hockey League
Minutes for Tuesday, February 15, 2005

President Joanne Lukasik called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. There were no January meeting minutes to review.

Treasurer's Report - Kristen Drabicki reported the current balance is $7,743.42, and this does not include monies collected from teams for the Ruicci Cup. The league will be billed $157/hour for approximately 51.5 hours of ice time to run 49 games. There are 28 teams participating in the tournament, and Kristen has checks from all but 2 of those teams.

Ruicci Cup - Kristen reviewed the work plan created by the Stingrays. Amy Martin will handle the scheduling of the referees. Terry Mathews will be responsible for a rules sheet and extra scoresheets.

Carrie Sirola has been working on the game schedule which will be finalized after standings are done on March 1. Division Statisticians need to have score sheets in to Ann Dobija on time. The earliest game on Thursday night is 7 p.m. and on Friday it is 6 p.m.

Kristen has a few scorekeepers lined up for the games; if she needs any additional, she will contact Kathy McHugh. Joanne asked all board members to attend and be available to help during the tournament weekend.

State Tournament - The tournament will be held the same weekend as the Ruicci Cup, at the Arctic Colliseum in Chelsea, MI. The MSHL has 4 entries in the Senior B division. For schedule information you can click on the MAHA link located on the league web-site.

Beginner's Clinic - Terry Mathews posted information on the clinic in Michigan Hockey and the Healthy Living section in the Detroit Free Press. An email was sent out and players are encouraged to forward info on the clinic to interested women. The league will incur the costs of the jerseys and ice rental, and then be reimbursed in grant money from MAHA. Terry has outlined a program for that day, and our hope is to have 3 groups on the ice, working with 2 instructors. After the clinic a Q & A session will be held. Terry will be looking for volunteers to work registration, help in the lockerrooms, etc. A few woman have already expressed interest in the clinic but it is unknown at this time if there is a need for equipment.

New Business - Deb Ruzsvanszki from the Ann Arbor Cyclones asked the Board if they would allow her team to add a player to play in the Ruicci Cup. Her team has been plagued with injuries and players who do not show up for games. The Cyclones have signed up to play in the Ruicci Cup but are concerned about the lack of participation they may have that weekend.

While the Board understands their concerns, the deadline has passed to add players and the team has a sufficient amount of rostered (10) players for league and tournament play. If the Cyclones decide not to play in the tournament, this will leave the Senior Rec. B division with 3 teams.

The next meeting is scheduled for March 1 at 6:30PM in Eddie Edgar Arena.

** The Ruicci Cup is March 10-13 **

The Beginning Women's Hockey Clinic is Saturday, March 19 from 12-2 p.m.
